Frederic S. Ury, a nationally recognized speaker, recently lectured on “The Future of the Legal Profession” at the Vermont Bar Association’s annual convention in Montreal, Canada. Fred also recently taught “Basic Civil Procedure in Connecticut,” an annual course Fred conducts for the Connecticut Bar Association. Neal L. Moskow recently spoke at National Business Institute’s 2007 conference on Resolving Problems and Disputes on Construction Projects. Neal’s presentation included several topics, such as understanding complex construction contracts before they are signed, managing contract changes, and handling threats of contract termination. Ury & Moskow’s pharmaceutical litigation group recently resolved more than three dozen Zyprexa claims, recovering millions and millions of dollars for our clients. The firm continues to represent clients who were injured after ingesting Zyprexa, as well as those clients suffering damages caused by Trasylol, Hormone Replacement Therapy, Vioxx and Ephedra. Neal L. Moskow’s half-million-dollar jury verdict in Stamford Wrecking Company v. United Stone America, Inc. was recently upheld by the Connecticut Supreme and Appellate Courts after Neal briefed and argued the issues. Ury & Moskow partner Edward “Ted” Parr spoke at the American Association for Justice’s annual convention in Seattle, Washington. Ted’s topic, “FDA Reporting Requirements for Ethical Pharmaceuticals,” focused on the complex relationship between the United States government, the pharmaceutical companies and the public. Frederic S. Ury & Neal L. Moskow were named to Law & Politics Connecticut Super Lawyers 2006 for general litigation. An annual honor reserved for the top 5% of Connecticut's lawyers, the designation is based on a multi-step process involving a survey of Connecticut lawyers, research into each attorney's qualifications and accomplishments, and final review/selection by a distinguished blue-ribbon panel. The article appeared in the February, 2006 issue of Connecticut Magazine. Frederic S. Ury successfully completed his one-year term as the 81st president of the Connecticut Bar Association on July 1, 2005. As a past president, Fred continues to chair the Association's Continuing Legal Education Committee. Fred also serves on the Bench-Bar Committee and the Task Force on Civil Justice. Recently, Fred has also served on various blue ribbon panels addressing issues and needs effecting the legal profession. In addition to all of his other duties, Fred is chairman of the Council of Bar Presidents. Frederic S. Ury was elected to the Executive Council of the National Council of Bar Presidents. Membership in the organization is contingent upon serving as president of a state or metropolitan bar association. The fifteen members of the Executive Council are elected to serve as the board of directors for the NCBP. The NCBP governs and administers continuing legal education programs throughout the United States for state and local bar associations, as well as to ensure that all bar association presidents have the information they need to effectively advance their members' interests. Neal L. Moskow has recently received recognition from two important organizations. The Connecticut Bar Foundation named Neal a James W. Cooper Fellow, a distinction that salutes him for his professional and civic accomplishments. In addition, Neal was certified as a member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum, an association generally recognized as including the top trial lawyers in America. Membership in the Million Dollar Advocates Forum is reserved for lawyers who have recovered million and multi-million dollar awards for clients.
